Question: How do we embed pictures and files on our student page? I searched on Wikipedia, but it said something about WikiCommons. I went there, but realized that when I had to create a new login that I wouldn't be able to transfer the upload since our wiki isn't connected with that directly. --Amy Hardister 20:49, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Answer: Our wiki was set up by App State without the ability to embed pictures and files. One solution is to post your photos in a photo-sharing site like Flickr (there are loads of others) and create a hyperlink in the wiki to your photo. Likewise there are free file-sharing services like Badongo on the web where you can upload PDF's, audio files, word doc's, etc. You would then create a hyper-link from your student page to that location. Finally, if you have video content, you can always upload your video YouTube or TeacherTube, and create a link to that file. If anyone else can think of other solutions, let us know.--Koppenhaverd 16:53, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Question: How do we create a table of contents on the wiki? Not obvious in the Mediawiki users guide.--Koppenhaverd 19:46, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Answer: In the Mediawiki FAQ I found the answer. Supposedly if you have two or more major topic headings (the ones you create with the big capital A in the toolbar), a TOC is automatically created. However, that didn't work in our wiki. The secondary solution, which does work, is to type at the top of the page where you want a TOC the following: Please note you must use ALL CAPS and use the underline twice in front and twice after the command.--Koppenhaverd 19:09, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Question: How can I link an animioto file into the wiki?--Rjohnson 01:15, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Answer: Animoto files can be shared in numerous ways which are describe in their FAQ. The sharing options are in the blue button under your Animoto project when you click on the play button in "My Videos." Basically you can (1) email it to us, and if we have Animoto accounts, the video shows up in our "Friends" tab at Animoto, (2) embed it on a webpage (your homepage or blog since our wiki doesn't accept the HTML commands required for this), or (3) export your project to YouTube (and then share that link with us in the wiki).--Koppenhaverd 19:10, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Question: Can you use Promethean lessons on the SmartBoard?--Brandy 01:59, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Answer: I don't know the answer if you're asking about the mechanics. Maybe someone else does? However, if you're asking permission, the answer is yes, of course.--Koppenhaverd 18:45, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
